Any Update's

I was wondering if you had any updates on your puppy. I actually have a 13 month old that just had a seizure yesterday. It was a mild one, but it was his second in a month and a half. I did not witness the first one, my brother and Dad did. They said Tyson looked like he was drunk and fell over. He was running on his side then he stopped. He just laid there for a minute or two looking lost. Then got up and was fine. Then yesterday, I came home from work and I was about to take him for a walk and I walked outside to see him on his side "paddling or running". He then urinated a little then he stopped and was dazed again. I immediately called my Vet and brought Tyson in for Blood work. I am waiting on the results... also he is on allegry shots that I just started about the same time as these seizures started. He is in the intial loading phase where he gets a higher dose every time for about 2 months, then about once a month. So far it does not look to help him, as he keeps biting his paws and scratching his ears. Any parts of him that are white are real pink... and he is also on an antihistamine called Hydroxazine. I am real worried about Tyson b/c he is so young. About an hour after the seizure, he was back to normal jumping and running all over the place, but I am so afraid for him. I don't want him to over exhert himself.... any help would be appreciated.

I wish I could be of some help, but I don't think I will be. We have not received the results back on the latest test for Memphis - the hypthyriodism tests. We are still hoping that by some miracle, this will be our solution. We have been through just about every other test there is. I just don't think Memphis has epilepsy - I think they just labeled it that b/c they couldn't find anything else.

Yes, it definately sounds like your Tyson has had some seizures. They are very scary to have to watch and help your baby through. Sounds like similar reactions after them to what Memphis has, and common from what I have read. We also read it is good to take them outside if possible after their first one because they will most likely go potty right away. Please let me know what the results of the blood work turn out to be. The connection with the start of a new medicine could prove to be something. Or it may be a toxin that could be causing them, or something that you can easily treat. It is good that he seems to have had very few, and not in the clusters, which are much harder on them. I wouldn't worry about him over exerting himself - he will know what he can handle. Memphis usually only gets them at night, so he sleeps and sleeps afterwards, but is usually running and jumping soon. Please keep me updated and let me know if I can help in any way.

Update with Tyson

Ok, so I talked to the Dr who got the results. From what he said it looks like it could be a thyroid problem. He said it was 4 pts. below normal, but he didn't think it was a major issue right now. He said it could be a issue later though. He then told me I could put him on meds, but it was not really neccessary right now. It was up to me.. I don't know what I should do b/c he is already getting his allergy shots and is on Hydroxazine. I don't know if the Medicine will help.. I was wondering if thyroid problems are a congenital (sp?) issue with boxers. I know they are known to have issues with their hearts, but is this common. Also, any feedback on the Meds would be appreciated. Thank you all for your help and concern.
