Help not sure what to do here

Sheesh why do people get dogs at all if they plan on doing that. I will never, never understand. :(

Hello all,
I love boxers too and so many in our neighborhood have them or want one. Unfortunately there is one down the street that shouldn't have any animals. They had a boxer that was caged in a crate all the time that was put to sleep because it was not able to grow and got to the point where it was not able to stand. They just put it to sleep. Instead of letting the dog run around it was kept in a crate all the time. I wasn't aware of this until recently someone told me what happened. Now they have another boxer and it is kept in the garage all the time chained to a weight bench 24/7. I have seen this and don't know what to do. This poor baby wiggles and it so happy to see people and just wants some love. I don't know how this baby is supposed to develop muscle tone when it can't run around chain is only big enough to move a few feet. I was wondering if anyone had a brochure on how to take care of a boxer and introductions to boxerworld that maybe they could pm or email me so I could put it in their mailbox and maybe that would help. Right now bad thoughts are crossing my mind about how to help the situation. I can't stand people who get animals just for show. Anyone can help me please let me know. I am not good at writing brochures and things like that and need help. I appreciate you all on boxer world and your suggestions.

Have you tried introducing yourself to your neighbor? Like what you said you love boxer and they own a boxer so why not use that to your advantage. Next time you see your neighbor make a good comment about their boxer and try to get comfortable with them. Once you and your neighbor get comfortable with each other then start talking to them how to best take care of their boxer in a way that you won't offend them. Maybe that's what your neighbor need someone to educate them on how to best take care of their boxer.
Talking to animal control only help if will not work if the puppy got shelter, food and water since it won't constitute to animal abuse. Yes i do agree that having your dog chained up all the time is not the right thing to do. Even if you take a picture and sent it to animal control won't solve the problem this might even make the matter worst. If an animal control officer go to my house and start accusing me of animal abuse, who do you think will be the first person i would think that called them? Yes that's right i'll be thinking about all my neighbors. I'm going to start thinking that they are trying to get me into trouble so i'll just ignore them completely. Now let's play a different scenario. Lets say i'm your neighbor and you happen to see me in my garage with my puppy and you say hello to me and made a nice comment about my puppy. Well the worst response i can give you was probably thanks. But once we break the ice and started getting comfortable as neighbors i know i will appreciate all the good advice you can give me about how to take care of my puppy.
And since some of your neighbors also own a boxer then maybe you can talk to them and hold a mini boxer bash in your neighborhood and invite this neighbor of yours. Once he found out that all his neighbors that own a boxer don't crate their dog all day or chain their dog all day then he'll slowly realize that his way of taking care of a boxer is the wrong way.

Update Please

sawcut64 do you have an update to share with us about the boxer tied in the garage. With the increasing hotter days I am very concerned about this baby and would like to hear of any new news.

Not that I'm a criminal in any sense of the word, but I would somehow dog nap the dog, and if I was unable to keep it, from the owners, I would take it to the shelter, as a "lost dog", and explain to them, that you have seen this dog before and the owners were abusive (yes, I would lie and lie and make it so that they would look into it if the owners went there looking for it), and make sure that they are aware of the dogs living condition.

But again, I'm not a criminal, maybe a little vigalante, , but I would do something, anything.

Well just an update. I got ahold of the people against dogs being chained and they sent letters out to them which I assume they have gotten. I walk by everyday and things seem to be better. I don't see the dogs(yes they got another dog) in the garage lately. The cages are still there, but the dogs are either in the house or outside in back. I don't know if they are still caging them just now in the house or if they are being good dog owners now or what but I do know the dogs aren't in the garage like before. Things aren't perfect but they are better and I will always keep an eye on the situation. Thank you all for your support and advice.
