Thank You

Thank you all so much for your words of advice,
I'm going to pass this on to my wife. I knew that I could count on you all to make ME feel a little better and I'm sure my wife will concur. Thanks again!
P.S.
I know Jo is small for a boxer but does anyone else have one under 42 lbs?

Jaimie,
I hope you don't mind, but I forwarded your cuddle time photo to my wife...It has to be one of the cutest things I've ever seen...Ken

Nope, don't mind at all that is what it is there for! :D Also, Britnee was around 40-45 Lbs, she actually stayed right around 42-43Lbs all her life.

Linus is an exuberant 70lb white male you has more zest for life than the average dog. He runs everywhere, barks excitedly at everything and does occasionally step on baby's hand when he gets up quickly. Having said that he turns into a gnetle giant when the baby wants to crawl over him or tug on his ears.

Have a look at my pics in my gallery.. I just added 3 that show just how loving he really is.

Good luck!

fdknuckles-

I have a 3 month old boxer, and a 1 and 3 year old skin kids. I have taught her to be gentle with the skin babies. I guess it depends on the owners of the furbabies.

I do agree that dogs have a sixth sense... from what I have seen and all the research I have done lately and all the amazing stories I have read on
boxerworld.com, I am so confident and exctied for Nestle to meet her new
little brother or sister in the next few weeks.

Just prepare Jo-Jo for the new addition by introducing the new smells and
music (that horribly annoying music) from all the baby toys.

We have been testing Nestle by pulling her food and treats away, knocking her away from her food bowl as well as pulling her ears and bugging her while she
is sleeping in preperation of how a baby will act. She has not once gotten annoyed
with us and just dealt with it. this stuff is very resassuring and will probably bring a little peace of mind to you wife.

Good luck

I have to agree with the others. My wife is due any day now and my boy Harley has gone through tremendous changes. He watches over her night and day and is never more then 10 feet from her at all times. He also adores children. I have never seen an animal look so tough one minute and then so loving the next. It's almost like the only thing a boxer wants to get out of life is to make the people around them happy. If your wife decides that she really wants to find a new home for Jo then she would be giving away your childs best friend. I am not saying this to sound mean at all. It's just that as your child and Jo grow together they will be more like friends then "a boy and his dog". All you have to do is be willing to work at it and spend time on training and I think she will see that it would be the best decision. I truly hope everything works out for you. In the end I think your wife may realize that her true worry will be keeping the babies toys in one piece:p

My parents got their first boxer Rocky soon after they got married and then my brother came along a couple years later. They were worried he'd be jealous, but after my bro was born, Rocky would sleep under the crib and watch out for him. ;) Rocky was the smallest of the litter and stayed that way all his life, he weighed 50 pounds. Which is a little small for a male.

Y'all are the best

I can't thank all of you enough for your words of support. Just knowing that you have gone through this with few (if any) problems. Thank you.

Of course my dogs have all been wonderful with my daughter. In my family the dogs are the kids also. There is not reason it would ever change. People used to ask (when I was pregnant) what are you going to do with your dog now? What do you mean, UH, the same thing I've always done. Has your wife bonded with your dog like you have? My husband had aother boxer when we met. She died 2 years later and he wanted to die too for a long time. Even though I was around the dog I felt horrible for my husband but I had never bonded with that dog She was already 9 years old when we met and of poor health. I never understood until we got Micah (from a pup).. Pregnant women are funny! Let me tell you I was hysterically cleaning. It was to the point of obsessive. I couldnt do enough. I almost killed myself cleaning things already clean! Make sure there's not another reason she's suggesting this. Deep down there might be. Deep down she dosent want to break your heart by "getting rid" of your baby. I'm sure you can work this out together as a family (dog included). Everything takes time. ;)
