Hi, my layla is 7 months old. I have had her since she was 8 wks old. She is really smart but very, very stuborn. I am in a little bit of a situation right now financially so getting her to obediance class is kind of tough right now. I have been consistent on my training with her and some things have stuck, but it is very basic. She can sit, speak, and scratch the door when she wants to go out(SOMETIMES) She is not fully housetrained either. I guess what I am asking is there any advice on some more things I could be doing without being able to take her to obediance class yet. My other big concern is her biting and jumping(which is play) but she really hurts. I have new bruises everyday. I also wanted to state one last thing, she only has a harness, so I thought maybe of the GL to train her and let her know I am in charge here. I love my baby so much!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for responding. I do take her out alot. I have been socializing her since we got her(8wks old) She is great with other dogs. She is somewhat timid when she meets new people. I will continue with her training, I know consistancy on my part is key. I just wanted to say, my sister has a boxer as well. Hers is going to be 1yrs old in aug. and I have to say how much better and trained she is from where she was a couple months ago. So, I guess there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Zebedee played rough with us, we used to just turn and walk away. If we were in the garden and he started getting over excited and jumping & nipping I'd just turn around say 'too bad' and walk in the house. End of play session. In time they do learn that that behaviour gets them absolutely nothing. It's getting other family members to follow suit which is harder. The more you tell them down, or stop the more they like it as it is attention.
Totally agree with getting the other family members to follow. I have 4 children so it is hard to get them to stay on top of the training with the puppy. It is also hard for my children because the puppy is stronger than them so I have to keep close supervision at all times. You are right though I need to give her time outs when she jumps/bites. Thanks for advice.

as for the jumping, try putting some coins in a can and shake it when she jumps on you. this should help a little.
