Boxer Booster
Hi,
I have 5 boxers, 2 older ones, 2 younger adopted ones, and a 3 month old puppy. I also have a chihuahua. I am really getting frustrated, and very worried. I live out in the country on 2 acres, half of which is fenced in. Over the period of about 4 years, my boxers keep getting out of the fence, or devising ways to escape. Usually this happens when I am not at home, and then I come home to find all of them gone.
Luckily, for about the 10 times they have escaped, my neighbors have been nice enough to call me. Well, this time I am not so lucky. All of my boxers escaped, by rooting thru a gate, and I was lucky that one stayed home, and my neighbor found my white boxer Jasper and my chihuahua. But Saddam and Koady are nowhere to be found. I know that one cannot be lucky all of the time, and I am so afraid that one day I will receive bad news.
The dogs are all males, and all neutered. When I had my older boxer Rusty, he never wanted to leave the house. But these guys, although they have a huge fenced in yard, are not happy. Today is a beautiful day, and I decided to leave them outside. What I want to know is why they are not satisfied, and why do they want to run???? These animals travel several miles, and just keep going. Saddam does know his way home, but I fear that with Koady along they may just run. I am so afraid of them being hit by a car or getting stolen. as they are fools.
I have patched up places in the fence, but they will even now dig under it. The fence is 5 feet high, so they cannot jump it. Is there anything that I am doing wrong to cause this type of behavior???? Like I said, they are all neutered, but that does not seem to matter. I do not want to tie them up, as that is cruel. I cannot keep them all in my house, because then they go stir crazy, and start tearing things up.
Any help is appreciated, and please pray for Saddam and Koady for a safe return home!!!!!!!
