Boxer Pal
I'm probably really inconsistent because i totally Chloe "hug/jump" on me when i come home. But as far as meeting people....just really start using the sit command for EVERYTHING...someone said to tell people to turn away if your pup won't calm down. It's amazing how quickly that works. Boxers want soooo much attention they'll do what it takes.
Like i said, make your pup sit for EVERYTHING, going in and out of doors, meeting other dogs, people, stopping at intersections, whatever...They'll get so into the habit that when they are addressed, they'll just naturally sit. It's really funny too because their little butts wiggle so much that you can see how hard they're working to stay there.
good luck.
oh...one more thing....And while i'm really lucky that Chloe never pulls on her leash...I would try that gentle leader...I've seen people's dogs make amazing changes with that. You could also just walk your dog an insane number of times for a period of days so that they know. Walk for about thirty seconds, stop...then walk again. Try going to an open field and if your dog gets ahead of you, suddenly change directions without saying anything to your dog....if they feel you're walking in an unpredictable pattern...they'll want to keep their eyes on you to know what's coming next.
ok. that's all I got. hope it helps
