Help me pick a sister for a boxer?

Completely Boxer Crazy
I too was looking for another dog (we have 2 boxers). Our house wouldn't accomodate another big dog so after much research I chose a Boston Terrier. He is an excellent compliment to the boxer. They really are like little miniature boxers. He's all the fun, packed into a little body. And very intelligent. He also gets along well with my two cats. I would highly recommend having a B.T. with boxers. Though he is not as big as you might like your second dog to be, he would make up for it with heart! Ever think about a golden retriever? I have the boxer and golden combo and they're great together. My boxer gets my golden to get more exercise cuz she can be pretty lazy a lot of the time and maybe it'll work the other way around for you to get your boxer up and about a little more. Goldens are awsome dogs but I'd also suggest getting one a little older since as puppies they are usually quite a handful but once their a little older and trained, they are very easy going relaxed dogs.
Otherwise I think it'd be a good idea to just go to a shelter and check out what's there cuz you never know, the perfect match could be sitting there waiting for you to take them home. Also I think that it's good that you're asking advice about other breeds being compatible instead of just going out and getting whatever cuz in my learning days I adopted an Akita (which I absolutely love) to be a companion for my other dog not knowing enough about them and it turned out that I had to find a new home for the Akita cuz they typically don't like other dogs and mine definately didn't like my other dog, of course I know better now but it's no fun learning the hard way. Good luck, I hope you find the match you're looking for.

Long haired wife! that's too funny! Have you ever looked at a Mimi-Schnauzer? Probably too small for your liking but I grew up with 2 and they were the best dogs ever! No shedding no problems, intelligent, tough, independent, and very loving. However I never saw our dogs with a boxer they got along with every other animal they met. Just a thought. I don't know... you could try an american bulldog?... Am. Staffordshire terrier... don't know how either of those breeds are just trying to help..

My golden is almost 2 years old and so far so good, she doesn't have a super thick coat so I'm sure that helps alot but we brush her a couple times a week just for a short time and it seems to do the trick. So far I don't think it's been any worse than all the little boxer hairs, actually the boxer hair gets on more of our clothing.

We have a 1 yr old female boxer and a 3 yr.old, male dobi,shepard mutt. They are about the same height but the mutt weighs maybe 10 lbs. more. They get along great. They play rough but then will sleep right next to each other. The only fights they ever have are over bones so we just separate them at that time. They seem to be best buddies.Good luck.
