Very concerned, I've seen Lizzy worsen very noticeably in the last 48hrs. Her eyes are closing (as I've stated in previous posts) which I treated with an over the counter Pink Eye Relief Drop. That was several hours ago, no visible relief.
She has had diarrhea the last 10 days, but I thought this was possibly from the antibiotics and subsequent de-wormer(she had hookworms!), but diarrhea persists and she's losing weight.......She is lathargic, and her appetite has dropped IMMENSELY. She will eat, but only if she is so hungry she has to.
I thought the appetite loss the last 5 days was from the dewormer- it is a powder mixed w/food, and she didn't like it. But now she's off...no appetite. Still has diarrhea, and I can't coax her to eat!!! It's breaking my heart. Antibiotics I think are making her throw up yellow bile (anti's are also yellow, though), so I can't judge if it's the meds or a symptom......

Does anyone know of something I could feed her to stimulate her appetite, or something "tasty" she couldn't resist?? I'd like to cook something up for her, she always loves when I do that, but don't think she'll eat the norm. I hate it to see her like this, as much as you think you know your baby, it hurts to look in those eyes which rely on you for everything, and you can do nothing to help........:(

Poor Lizzy.
I don't know what to tell you. Poor baby.
My previous boxer, Buster was having some ministrokes. His 3d eyelid started doing weird stuff. His was getting more and more nerve damage and then started tripping on his feet. He would try to walk on the tops of his paws.
Is she exhibiting any of those signs?

It sounds like to me you need to get Lizzy to the vet and if your regular vet sees no reason to see her then find one that will. I would be very concerned as to why she is so sick, they can dehydrate in a very short time, a vet visit would be essential at this point asap. As far as coaxing her to eat, I would put the vet visit first and then think about some cooked chicken and rice mixed together, that would be easy on the stomach and very appetizing. But please get her to the vet first.

I am not sure what to do. I had her rushed in last weekend because her lymph nodes became swollen, x-rays and sonograms indicated to the vet that the lypmh nodes were infected, did not seem to be cancerous. After suggesting the antibiotics, we started her on Monday. The lymph nodes seemed to go down a little, but last night/today they became more prevelant. After being upset last weekend about all this, I was confident this week that it was in fact infectious. I am very worried about how she has progressed back to her original symptoms.
She does not seem to be in imminent danger or I would definately take her in to the vet. I am watching her like a hawk, and after $1,000 last weekend I don't know if I can do it again, unless absolutely necessary. The vet suggests a biopsy, which I do not want to subject her to.
After I posted this thread I did mix some chicken/rice which I put some gravy on, knowing she would at least eat some. She slowly ate it all, and seemed like she had more energy, I took her for a walk and she was acting normally, but tired and after getting home is sleeping like a rock..... I'm upping her dose of antibiotics a little, tomorrow I am seeing the vet again.

It tears me up to see that big lump on her neck, my beautiful girl is just looking at me saying "whats wrong with me?" She won't shake her head because of the weight of the lump. She is not necessarily in pain, but she definately knows something is wrong. I can only try to comfort her as much as possible, and am closely watching her breathing, heart, and any other symptoms. I hope I am overreacting to just this 'infection'. Something deep tells me I'm not. :(
Boxbud- no, there's no neurological symptoms.
Thank you everyone for your support.....Lizzy would normally give everyone big, sloppy drooly kisses!

Well hopefully it is something treatable and they will find the answers soon. Did your vet run a cbc on her? Did he suggest an alternative to biopsy such as a fine needle aspirate of the lymph nodes? Not to alarm you but I would have him definitively rule out lymphoma ( needle aspirate needed at minimum). I lost my boy Gunther to Alimentary Lymphoma in July and some of the symptoms that you have described match, some (such as the droopy eyelid) do not. It sounds like your girl had a lot going on over the past few weeks and it may be an infection or reaction to meds ect. I realize the $ issue mounts quickly but maybe the vet can make arrangements for payment if the charges will continue to be significant. Did your vet suggest subcutaneous fluids or IV fluids. As was mentioned earlier, be very aware of dehydration. Ive been through most of this and I feel for what you are going through, hopefully your little girl will be better soon. I am sorry I cant provide you with many answers, unfortunately only more tests or symptoms will do that. My thoughts are with you and your baby..sending healing vibes. Please let us know how she makes out.
Mike
