Help, impossible to house break!!!

I have a 5 month old male boxer (Titan), I love him to death but he is by far the most difficult dog to house break I have ever had. I have never had a problem like this before, he pees constantly!!!!!!!!!!! I have read the books, and as many threads that I can find, the vet says he is perfectly healthy. I feel bad putting him in the crate all the time and it seems like we are always outside, he still goes on the rug as soon as we go back inside, I have shampooed the carpets to get the order out.
Has anyone elce had a puppy like this?

My girl was like this till she was about 8 months old. Then, the change was basically overnite. Her crate training began the nite I brought her home at 6 weeks old and was a long process. Until she was probably 5 months old, she was taken out at regular intervals. She would go out at 6am when I got up for work, we would play for about an hour, then she would go in her crate around 7:30 or so when I got in the shower and such. Would take her out again right before I left at 8am for work. I came home at noon to take her out again (often to find a mess in her crate). We would play and such while I was on my lunch break then take her out again at 1pm before I left to return for work. Would get home at 5pm and straight out she went. During the evening while I was home, I kept her in the same room as me so I could keep an eye on her and went back out around 8 or 9pm. Then again later at midnite. Started out getting up around 3am to take her out again, and slowly kept moving the time ahead about 15 or 30 minutes for a few months until I was getting up around 4:30 or so to take her out. Then cut this pee break out of her schedule. All of her training was done with positive reinforcement when she done good, but when she done bad, immediately tell her no and rush her outside. I found it helpful to diffrentiate between outside for pee or for play. I would take her outside and walk around 10 or 15 minutes for pee, then come back inside for 10 or so before going outside to play. A problem I found out that was taking longer was a few strange food allergies she had. I had given her yogurt a few times, but everytime she had it, she would pee a FLOOD and the same with Food Lion brand chicken breasts. After cutting these extras from her diet, it helped because when she had either of these, she would pee as often as every 5 minutes sometimes! It is very slow going sometimes, and it seems like the time will never reach when they just suddenly get it, but they do. Now Kira is 16 months old and does wonderful. The two biggest things to keep in mind for housetraining is persistance and consistence.

Thank god that someone else is having this problem.My wife and I were starting to think we were the worst pouppy parents on the face of the earth!!!:mad: . Our Lucy is about 4 months and she is crated off and on throughout the day. Always right outside when she got out of the crate and she will ussually pee. outside about every hour wehn possible, supervised and unsupervised. All of this and she will still just up and pee out of nowhere on the carpet, no warning att all. and she could have come in from two hours of being outside. (we have a BIG fenced yard)I think she is getting better, but my wife has doubts. I hope she learns soon!!!!!!

Just a thought.....

Maybe your pups know that there supposed to pee outside, but they don't know how to tell you they have to go.....
After 4months of cleaning up peeps in my house, we finally figured out that Trudy had no idea that she was supposed to tell us when she needed to go out. We had schedules very similar to all yours however, she would do the same thing, just randomly pee...It was rather frustrating, then we got the Bell...I love that Bell!!

Titan knows how to tell us when he needs to go outside, he just does it when he feels like it. Now he has progressed to peeing on the couch:confused: I am at a loss with this new problem, I am trying to stick with possitive reinforcement, but he doesn't care if he gets a treat or a rub. What I really don't under stand is that he will pee right at my feet and look at me like he doesn't have a care in the world. I love this dog but he is driving me and my husband crazy!!!

I don't use a crate, so I don't know if you would be interested in this option, but pee-pee pads have worked really well for me. You can get them at Petsmart or Wal-Mart, or about anywhere. My Buddy is only 11 weeks old, and using these pads he is almost totally poddy-trained. They have something in them that attracts the pups to them. Just keep moving them closer to the door, and eventually out. Good Luck!
