something you can do

Well, there is something you can do....

I suffered from sinus problems for years, until getting an allergy test done and realizing I was allergic to cats and dogs (among a few other things). This was before we had Punchie, but we did have 4 cats, and I WAS NOT going to give up my furbabies. Sooooooo, I have been taking allergy injections (in the booty) every Monday morning for a little over a year now. (DH gives them to me) I am just now phasing down to once every two weeks. I have seen a definite improvement in sinus problems. They still bother me occassionally, but nothing like the raging headaches I used to get.
See your doctor or find an allergist (as they will probably refer you to one anyway). If you can handle getting an injection via needle, this is an alternative to consider. It's not the most pleasant way to start the week, but it beats the alternative...giving up my babies! And eventually your body will build an immunity to the allergen and you can quit the injections. Good luck whatever you decide.

I forgot to mention that thanks Punchinella! I take my son to an allergist as well not just a regular Dr. They usually know the newest meds to try and they will do a allergy panel on you and start from there but the first thing they will say is get rid of, or my favorite throw the animals outside:LOL: tell them it's not an option and go from there. My son is the only one in the whole fam. with allergies to animals and stops breating when he has a bad reaction, we made it work i'm sure you can too! :)

My allergist told me that letting my cats sleep on my head, on my pillow was not a good idea...I just laughed at him, and told him that was their bed - deal with it! lol

Mine recently told me to get rid of Dozer even though we were going in for a check up and to get refils on my sons meds. He hasn't had a problem in a year and he told me to either toss Dozer outside 24hrs a day or get rid of him! RIGHT! It blew me away because he's not even having a problem with his allergies now! I didn't mention we had just got Diesel the night before

Don't feel bad, I am also allergic to my dog. I haven't been tested, but I know furry animals in general make my sinuses clogged and make me sneeze a lot. Also, Abbie in particular, makes me makes me itch wherever she lickes me. She can lick my shirt and after about 30 seconds, my skin under my shirt starts itching and I get little bumps. It's especially bad if she licks my face. But, I live with it because I love her. She is learning that she can't lick all over me and when she does, I have to go wash the area and use benedryl itch cream. That seems to help. Also, she takes regular baths with an Allergen reducing shampoo. O-well, little to put up with for my baby.

Well, Im also alergic to Zoey. Although not from her dander, or at least only a little. If she licks me, I too get the red angry rash. Or if she mouths me while we are playing the same thing happens. I always try and keep my face away from her (hard when she is a kissing machine). I figured out pretty quick that I had the allergy, but I'm willing to live with it. In your case, if it's affecting your sinus, I can understand your troubles! Hope you come up with a solution! Good luck!

My son is also

allergic to cats and dogs...He is 15 (pic in profile) we found out when he was like 8 yrs old. He takes meds and sprays when its really bad, but most of the time he won't take anything...

Those allergists mean well, but they look at you like your a horrible mother when you don't give up your animals, but it would have beem more devistating for Tyler at 8 to give up his dog (our first boxer boy) and 2 cats... We stay on top of it and all seems to be well...

There are other options out there, many people , as you can see, live with their allergies and animals...:)

HI,

I'm so sorry to hear about your allergy. There is treatment for this though. You go to an allergy specialist and they perform tests and they determine exactly which substance from Jersey you are allergic to and then they provide you with desensitization treatment which works as follows, when they know what it is that you are allergic to, they inject you with the substance in small dosages and then they give you treatment this goes on for a few weeks and in the end your body becomes accustomed to this substance and no longer gives out distress signals (allergy is your body's attempt to get rid of "invaders". It is a costly treatment but it works beautifully.
