My Sympathy and Understanding
Hello Joe,
My heart goes out to you, I lost my boxer to cancer just a couple of months ago. I think that your parents should have let you in on the goodbye. You are old enough, but they probably were being parents and protecting you from the pain. Try to understand that and forgive them. It was not easy for me, Ace took his last breath with his head on my lap. I would'nt have had it any other way. My sons (11 yr.) and my husband were outside - we were all prepared that he was on his way, we all had said our goodbyes- but I chose to be with him alone at that moment. Although I will always remember him in good, funny boxer ways, I will never forget that moment when he took his last breath. It will always be stuck in my head. I think you should be positive and think of the years you had with him. From what I have learned boxers do have a short life span. There is alot on the internet for grieving your dog. I found a beautiful poem about losing your dog, I purchased a beautiful head stone and had his picture engraved on it. I also got a "boxer angel" which hangs in my rearview mirror to remind me of him. These things helped me alot. You will know when you are ready for another - it will not take your dogs place but it will find a way into your heart. Good Luck!
