Manny is now 10 weeks old, and I swear we didn't think it would be this difficult to find a vet to crop his ears. Our regular vet doesn't do ear cropping, and she could not recommend a single vet in the Richmond area to do it. I've called around as far away as Charlottesville and Raleigh, NC and no luck. Does anyone know of a place in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, DC or West Virginia that can do a good boxer ear crop?

Also, I've read several different things about the timing of the surgery. Is it too late to even try the crop in the first place? Some books have said 10 weeks is the cutoff, some say 12.

Thanks!!

I dont know of any in you area but I do know that I have talked to several vets about my Ares and they all say between 10 and 12 weeks is when to do it they wont even touch her now at 8 weeks. So I hope that helped a little

Have you done a search on google or an online yellow pages and see if anything comes up? Or asking the breeder you got you dog from it they know of a vet that does ear cropping.

ear cropping

the breeder I got her from lives 2 hours away from me and his vet comes to his farm and does all the animals so his vet wont be able to help me. I will do a search and see what comes up so I can find a good one. I dont want her to go to just anyone. Thank you though.....Christy

I did do a Google search and the closest vets that came up were in Charlottesville, VA and Raleigh, NC. The one in Charlottesville does not do ear cropping anymore and the one in Raleigh only does it for current clients. The breeder we got him from does not have any of his Boxers cropped and didn't know of any vets that do it. :(

I would get hold of a member of a local Boxer Club. They should be able to give you some info. It is important to find a vet that knows how to crop. A lot of vets do a terrible job. You have a couple of weeks to get them done. I would still call the breeder also and ask for help.
