Help, Digging! Ugh.....

I am wondering if anyone can give me advice or ideas on how to stop my 10 month old male from digging up my yard. I have tried catching him in the act and telling him "no digging". He will stop at that point, but if I am not there he will continue. I see him out the window and go out and stop him. My yard is a wreck. Any advice would be helpful.

Our trainer told us to scoop some of the pup's poop and put it in the hole and cover it up. We have tried that and they don't seem to dig in that same spot again. Maybe that will help.

We had a lot of sand left over one year when we removed an above ground pool, and initially didn't know what to do with it until we found that our dogs preferred to dig in it. We simply created a "sand box" for them in the far corner of our yard, and they have stopped digging elsewhere. ~ Cathy

Us too-gave them a spot and redirected them to it until they got it

I got so fed up with my two digging (well Zeb mostly) that we got rid of the lawn and pebbled it all Now everyday is like a day at the beach (a pebbley one)

The poop idea worked for us, too.

At 15 weeks Winnie dug herself a cave.... the tunnel was 3 feet long and nearly 1 foot high. She would dig it out after we filled it in everytime. I will admit it was quite funny seeing her pop her head out from underground when I'd call her. I was afraid of it collapsing in on her. We ended up filling it in nearly to the top then sprinkling in some poop then covering it up. Over the next few days she made a few starts to dig it back out but gave up. She hasn't done it again.
