I have the sweetest boxer in the world-EXCEPT when we try and leave the house. She continues to use her crate in the morning and is fine going in, but after i get home from school (I teach)-if I try and put her in the crate, she will not go in. That would be fine, since for the most part she can stay in the house for a short time and not do any damage;however, the real problem is that she won't let my husband or myself leave.-She clings to us and nips at our clothing and growls--any sugguestions- or does this happen to any of you

Although I have no suggestions for you I can tell you my Molly will dart out the door if we don't stop her. She actually knocked me to the floor trying to get out once. I have tried the sit and stay which she will do any other time but when I am leaving. I trick her now. It sounds foolish but I will walk to the back door, the door she uses to go out and tell her to sit while I am sneaking to the front door then I run like hell out the door. Silly isn't it? She is only 14 months so I hope one day she will learn not to do this.

My Aunt's boxer does that and my Loki would do it once in a while. Almost like they are mad at you for leaving and not taking them with.

I suggest you buy the book The Dog Listener. This topic is covered in there. Sounds like your dog feels like it is alpha in the house and is stressed when you leave, since it feels it can not ensure your safety when you are out. The book is full of great information and is a very smooth read. Highly reccomended on these boards also :)
