Hello to everyone,
Nice to find a forum like this to discuss our "family members."
A little about us - hubby and I have a 5 yr old human child, a 12 yr old stepsister and until this summer 71/2 yr old furry chid - Daisy Mae. She died unexpectedly from boxer cardiomyopathy. I cried for a week straight and still have pictures of her all over. We knew immediately that we could not be without a boxer in the house. So we adopted Roman and Bella who are currently 5 months old. I feel like a doggy mommy all the time. The pups are from different litters and a week apart in age. We have watched them bond and learn to tolerate each other, they are slowly catching on to the rules of the house (no horseplay, running, etc). They still need to monitored constantly - the female "thinks" she's boss. If they play too rough, they get a time out. They need to sit properly for their meals. Right now life for them is all about exercise, exercise, exercise. We started them hiking just under 3 mos old. We have built up to 5 hr hikes when the weather is tolerable. Of course now being so cold here, it short walks around the block with our coats on.
I absolutely love my babies. We do not breed - pets only and are thinking about getting into rescue either fostering or adopting. I would like another male - older 5-6 yrs old. We may try to find a good home for the female. She has been a handful for us but we do love her so we'll see. She would make an awesome agility dog. So I may look into building some kind of course in the backyard. I've gone on long enough - worked a double shift at hospital - can't sleep and can barely see what I'm typing. Nice to meet everyone!!!!!
