Hi, I am the very PROUD owner of George, a 6 year old fawn boxer. He's the love of my life. I rescued George from the Lincolnshire and Essex Boxer Rescue in 2001 after losing my first boxer, a gorgeous and wonderful girl called Charly, to cardiomyopathy.

George is the most laid back gent in the world, he loves nothing better than to sleep on the couch next to me or Mum. He loves patrolling his garden and giving a little bark to let the world know George is about.

Looking forward to using this site as in the past 48 hours my vet detected an irregular heart beat in George. This was devstating news and we all thought, oh no, not again. His ECG has come back recording an extremely fast heart rate. However, hopefully this has been caught early enough. He is now taking Digoxin twice daily to slow his heart rate down. I did post a thread in the health section asking if anyone else has been living with a boxer whose heart condition was caught in the early stages. I am not ready to lose my boy without a fight!

Hi Clare, welcome to B.W from another UK member. Where abouts are you? I am in the S.East. I'm glad the vet has detected Georges fast heartbeat early, I hope it can be controlled through the Digoxin. You will love it here, its a wonderful site :)

Hi,

George and I are based in East Anglia. It's a nice sunny day today so George is soaking up the sun in the bedroom. This is the first day I haven't stopped crying! It was such a shock, because he went to the vet for an unrelated problem (he has a yeast infection in his ear) and a routine heart check detected the problem. But, fingers crossed it's been picked up early enough!

Hello and welcome from me and Millie in London...Millie also has a heart condition, an aortic stenosis, I have posted before about this. Our vet found it on her first puppy check, and refered her to The Royal college of Vetinary Surgeons, as he thought the outlook was dire, and that she would not survive into adullthood.....I was devestated, as we had just lost our first Boxer to a brain tumour.......Happily Millie has defied everyone and will be 6 years old this year! :)

Thanks so much for posting your reply - this gives me GREAT confidence and hope. What kind of medication is Millie on, and is she able to have mild exercise still? I am just wondering whether, if George copes well with the digoxin, he'll be able to have a mild trot round the street or something.
