Boxer Pal
Hello
We are proud parents of a 11 mos. old fawn boxer boy named, Crosby. We also have a loving 6 year old black and tan doxie named Lilly Louise. We love our dogs very very much. Crosby, our Boxer puppy keeps us very busy. He loves to go on his daily 50 min walk, go to the park, give kisses, sleep on the bed, take bites of our new furniture, get his tummy scratched, play silly, ruin expensive shoes and just be a baby boy. We have tons of fun with both of our dogs and they really love each other. They are our children. Every A.M our Doxie, Lilly wakes Crosby up with kisses and cleaning him -it is a real site.

We do have a small issues with Crosby. He really loves to play rough. We enjoy it when he is super silly and we really let him run wild in the house...running up and down stairs or just throwing toys around and being a goof ball. Sometimes he wants to play "ROUGH" with us . It isn't that he is upset or wanting to hurt me (Mommy) but he likes to bite my arms or whatever he can get ahold of. It really hurts and causes bruises on my arms. It seems that it works best just to walk away. Sometimes we pin him down and tell him "no bite" but it does'nt always work the best b/c he will come back with a bite or a jump and a bite. It really isnt that he is mad though.

My question is "is this normal"? Will it turn into agressive behavior? Are we following the right path to pin him down or walk away? Will this eventually go away. Crosby passed training for puppies, does he need to go to more. We have "tons" of sqweeky toys, balls, stuft animals etc. around the house for him to play with. Any suggestions?

Crosby also has an extremely sensative tummy. It seems that he has been on anti-biotics already 3 or 4 times. He gets little tummy issues from the dog park. I am not sure what is causing this- water or what? What happens is he ends up having a blow out (diareaha) in his crate while we are at work. Then he goes on rice and chicken for about three days and gets antibiotics. We have a wonderful vet here but I wonder how we can build his immunity so he can enjoy going to the park and not getting sick.

I welcome any suggestions or feedback. Again, we love our boxer and doxie and want to provide the best family life we can for them and will do whatever it takes!!!

Thanks so much!

Welcome to Boxer World! Crosby sounds like Leila. She likes to play rough with my husband. He has gotten her trained to only play rough when he puts the sock on the hand. She knows this is her "permission" to play rough. He then will tell her "all done" at random and cross his arms and ignore her. She has figured out to "sit" until her gives her the "release word, OKAY" and then they go at it again. This will go on and on. I think the walking away is a good way to gain control. Keep at it. More training is always a good idea. You will learn a lot from this website. Enjoy!
