hi everyone. I have been enjoying reading the board for about 7 months now, but this is my first contribution. 27 years ago we bought our first boxer, Benny. He would stay in the kitchen area when we would go out. There were opaque glass sliding doors between the lounge and the kitchen so when ever I returned I would see his shadow wiggling and jumping with excitement, This particular day I was worried to see his form laying on the floor, no jumping. When I opened the doors what a predicament he was in. He had managed to get the plastic biscuit barrel from the kitchen bench, I hasten to add that before I went out it was almost full with an assortment of human biscuits. This container was shaped like a beer barrel , his problem must have arisen when he had eaten all the biscuits and then tried to extracate himself. If I was not so concerned about the risk of suffocation I would have taken his photo, but my one thought was to remove the barrel from his head right down to his neck. I tried, but had to call a neighbour to pull the barrel while I kept hold of his rear end. Despite this mishap and a few more (such as catching his leg in the elastic of a fitted sheet on the clothesline and as he tried to get out twisted the material so his leg went higher lifting him off the ground. Another neighbour alerted me to his plight) he was a wonderful friend and lived to a good age of thirteen and a half years. Hope this isn't too long.

Welcome

No it was not too long. Welcome to the board! I am also pretty new. Do you have a boxer now? Sounds like Benny got into alot of trouble. Tobee's big problem is getting into the trash. It does not seem to matter what I do, he loves getting in it.

I hope someday I can visit Australia. It looks like a wonderful place to be.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

After Benny passed away we had a beautiful boy called Benson for 10 wonderful years, and now we are proud to be the parents of Chester born 29th February 2000. Each of my boxers have been wonderful but all have had different personalities. Benson was a great people dog but was not very sociable with dogs , he never had a scrap, but I think he would have tried if he had the opportunity, Chester does not seem to have a mean thought in him. He is such a softie, and wants to be friends with everyone , human and dogs. He has only learnt to bark at the door this past few weeks.

Welcome to the boards. What a charming story. Sorry Benson got his head stuck, but it sure is an amusing story now :)

Glad he came out ok. Aren't boxers the biggest clowns around? I love it.

Again, welcome. We look forward to many more delicious boxer stories.
