hi everyone. I have been enjoying reading the board for about 7 months now, but this is my first contribution. 27 years ago we bought our first boxer, Benny. He would stay in the kitchen area when we would go out. There were opaque glass sliding doors between the lounge and the kitchen so when ever I returned I would see his shadow wiggling and jumping with excitement, This particular day I was worried to see his form laying on the floor, no jumping. When I opened the doors what a predicament he was in. He had managed to get the plastic biscuit barrel from the kitchen bench, I hasten to add that before I went out it was almost full with an assortment of human biscuits. This container was shaped like a beer barrel , his problem must have arisen when he had eaten all the biscuits and then tried to extracate himself. If I was not so concerned about the risk of suffocation I would have taken his photo, but my one thought was to remove the barrel from his head right down to his neck. I tried, but had to call a neighbour to pull the barrel while I kept hold of his rear end. Despite this mishap and a few more (such as catching his leg in the elastic of a fitted sheet on the clothesline and as he tried to get out twisted the material so his leg went higher lifting him off the ground. Another neighbour alerted me to his plight) he was a wonderful friend and lived to a good age of thirteen and a half years. Hope this isn't too long.
