Hello all, I have a 13 yr old female boxer Lizzy and she is not doingthe bestthese days...She lets off an unusual odor everyday at least 20 times aday
and does it smell bad..Does anyone know what this could be causedfrom other than bad gas

Boxers are notoriously known for bad gas :eek: it could also be her anal sacs, they do need expressed ever so often, some dogs more then others. I would say that since she is that old that a vet check would be in order. Congrats on having a boxer to live for so long. BTW, A great big [size=4+]WELCOME[/size] from another Ohioan.

I changed the food which seemed to help. Pepik now eats a chicken based Holostic Natural Canine Formula that I get at Trader Joe's. Before that he ate Innova EVO for several months but that gave LOTS! of badsmelling gas (and very loose stool too which is now back to normal)
A friend's dog got sick from all dog food brands except this one. I don't know which brands they used to have though.

Welcome you and Lizzy to BW. Congrats on having 13 years with your Lizzy, I hope we are all as fortunate as you are to have your baby around so long! Boxers are very stinky, gassy dogs, but if this is a new odor then you might contact your vet to have her checked out to be on the safe side.

Welcome to you and Lizzy. I agree with the others, I would check with the vet just to make sure it is not something serious. My boxer Killian will be nine next month and it seems his gas got worse with age, but since finding Boxerworld and learning more about good foods and yogurt (he gets it each day) it has helped immensly. Again welcome, and I hope you find out what is going on with Lizzy! :)
