Boxer Pal
Hi everyone. This is my first post on Boxerworld although I have been a lurker for awhile. I'm a third time Boxer mom. I have had boxers since I was 9 years old and will not even consider another breed ever!
My current boxer, Katrina, (yes, like the hurricane, she had the name first) is 9 years old. She's had her share of health problems - every known one to boxers. She's had hip dysplasia since birth which has been treated with Glucosamine tables daily and the occasional canine aspirin. At age 6, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. With treatments of radiation, chemotherapy and steroids, the vet said she would live at most 18 months. Well, she is 9 now! Every day is a blessing! In the intervening 3 years, she's been treated for "Boxer eye", ear infection, had a cancerous tumor removed, and her latest thing is arrythmia and a blockage in her aorta. Other than that, she still thinks she is a puppy and has not grayed at all.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention her ongoing attacks of pancreasitis. Until several months ago, it was a given that at least once a week she would vomit and have diarrhea. That was until we changed her food. Since a puppy she was on Bil-Jac. Now, we feed her Nature's Recipe Easy-To-Digest Fish and Potato. Katrina absolutely loves it! We love it too (for a good reason)!
