Hi my name is Steph my husband and I have 2 boxers 1 male almost 3 and a female almost 1. We also have a pug. I had always wanted a boxer and after we got our first one Buster I never want to not have a boxer. He is the most loving protective dog I have ever known. Our female Macy is a little skitish of things and we were wondering if that could be because she has Buster to protect her so she dosen't need to be protective. I reallly hope all of you enjoy your boxers as much as we enjoy ours.

Macy will probably outgrow being skittish. It is common for Boxers, and perhaps other dogs to be a little leary as they are growing up. Once they learn the ropes, they generally become more secure, and self confident, unless they are abused in some way.

You should notice a gradual diminishing of her skittish behavior over the next few months. Ava is fifteen months, and she still scampers away when we take pots and pans from the cabinet under the counter. Some time ago, a few fell onto the ceramic tile floor making a tremendous racket which startled her. She'll move away whenever we open that door, but not with the same urgency she did a couple of months ago.

It may be a part of her nature, but it is more likely that it has to do with her stage of development.

Just thought I'd say hi. We're in Lincoln, we have a 6mo old girl and a 8week old boy. We've also been bit by the boxer bug. I don't think we'll ever have another breed!

I barely see Nebraskans on BW.
