oooh we're kicking ourselves for not picking the a/c option when we bought our condo! vegas is 11 months old on monday!i can't believe he's almost 1 year old! we got him from soberly boxers in mirabel,we found them on the boxer club of canada website and then we actually went to meet them at the ormstown dog show. i'd like to go again this year. do you know when it is, pam?where's ingleside?
melissa,i've heard often that dogs will associate negativity with the crate if its used for correcting them.
i like the park on dr.penfield its really nice!where's the mt.royal parc?

Hi folks!

Melissa, when you put your furbaby in her crate for punishment, do it very calmly, no scolding. When you let her out after a few minutes, same deal, no fuss. That way she should get the message. It has worked with Sugar, and yup, that's what my books said to do.
I don't know about the park on Dr. Penfield.... or do you mean the one beside McTavish? Mount Royal is great, we went there once last fall. It's too far to go too often, though, and parking can be a problem.
Sugar turned one year on May 28. We got her last August 4, at 9 weeks.
I will find out about the dog shows. The site I was using for info has changed the format, not for the better. The Ormstown one is in July, I seem to recall, so I had better hurry up and find out!
Ingleside is in Ontario, just past Cornwall. It is just past the Long Sault provincial park. The show is in late August or early September. It's outside in a beautiful setting, lasts several days, and is just beside great camping. I don't know about trying to camp with Sugar yet, though!

The park on doctor penfield is not the one on mctavish (that one's part of McGill, and it's called the "reservoir", and if I remember right dogs aren't allowed there), it's a little further west, closer to guy street. it's all fenced in and people can leave their dogs off leash. it's really nice, i can't wait to bring Kashmir there. We're making a little progress with her biting and growling at us... the penny can doesn't work, it just gets her more worked up. now we're trying spritzing her with water and ignoring her. we'll see how it goes. i hope she outgrows this phase quickly or gets the message quickly, i'd like to keep my skin on my ankles!

wow,vegas really got some exerceise yesterday-mentally and physically! we went to the st.laurent blvd. sidewalk sale and there were so many people and vegas was concentrating soooo hard on not jumping on anyone or their dogs.haha.poor guy. but it was a great experience for him;he's never been in a crowd like that. but yuck,there really were toooo many people and now i'm off to go there again :( (i work on that street).
