This is great! Crystal, What is the "R" section close to? We're close to Future Shop. We stay away from the dog park in St Lambert near the river, because some of the dog owners there really are not watching their dogs, and we have been badly hassled by a couple of the pooches. Sugar also picked up a nasty parasite there. There is another park up on Rome, gated and with a hill in the center. It has some marshy bits, so use it with caution. We tend to walk Sugar around the neighborhood, but also take her for walks to the huge park off of Gaetan Boucher in St Hubert. St Helen's Island is good, too.
We would love to meet you and have a playdate! And I think it is excellent that your next dog will be a rescue! I really admire that, but Sugar was my first dog and I was reluctant to try to handle one that might need a more knowledgeable owner.
We can discuss the bad breeder thing when we meet. Basically, the pup was very sick (rage) and the breeder was very nasty about taking her back. We only got part of our price back, and were out-of-pocket about 1000 in vet bills.
Melissa: Books say not to crate a boxer more than 6 hours. Also, when she's a puppy she will need frequent trips outside. The rule of thumb (I don't know how much experience you have with puppies) is one hour per month of age plus one, i.e. 4 hours maximum for a 3-month old pup. I'm home right now (going through chemotherapy) so Sugar is a bit spoiled. There were a lot of little accidents at first.... Mom had to learn to have a very quick eye for the squat, even though I was taking her out every couple of hours.
Thanks for the info about Rodlin, I will look them up!
