Hi All,

I bought Bloc from a friend recently. He is a two year old male and i fell in love with him as soon as i met him. He was outgrowing my friend's place and i'll be moving into my new home (with a big compound) soon. I know i've missed his pupyhood and i dont think he was ever trained, so some may think i made terrible mistake in getting him. But he is such a dear and i love him.

I got the vet to have a look at him yesterday and also had a heartworm test done. He's got some skin problems and infection in one ear. Looks like i have my work cut out for me.

There is just so much information here, i'm getting a headache going through it all. But i'm just so glad there are so many people out there who are so passionate and dedicated to their boxers!

Cheers!

Hi Sooaun, welcome to Boxerworld :) Glad you and Bloc could join us here. Don't worry about the lack of training - I'm sure you'll soon make up for that, and adult dogs can learn faster than baby puppies so I'm sure he'll be doing well in no time. I hope you enjoy the site.

Hi Sooaun and welcome to BW! We got Spud from rescue when he was eight months old, so I can relate to what you're saying. We were worried about his training etc, but you'll be suprised how quickly they learn...they're too clever for their own good sometimes! There is loads of useful information on here and lots of friendly people to turn to if times get a bit rough! So glad you could join us! :D

Welcome from so far away!! It takes a special person to adopt a dog..but I'm sure you can handle it, and remember we are only a few types away lovicon

Hi there boxer, spud's mum, Slobber Baby and sgbtab,

Thanks for the warm welcome. You know, i initially thot bloc should have been renamed big moose or smthing... but with time i've realised he is much smarter than i thot. but not for his own good ... i'm having trouble seeing to his ears cos as soon as he sees the tube of antibiotic ear drops he wont let me touch his head... boy, i have so much to learn... and yeah, i'm so glad you're all a few types away!

Welcome Sooaun and Bloc. That is great that you were able to give this boxer a home with you! He will be forever grateful I am sure! Do not get discouraged about his age or lack of training, he will surprise you with how quickly he will learn things. With the ear meds, give him lots of praise, positive reinforcement works with boxers very well. Keep those treats handy and try not to get frustrated when he doesn't want to cooperate, even though that may be easier said than done! He is lucky to have you! Looking forward to hearing all about your adventures! :)
