Hey everyone... I am the proud new owner of an 11 week old male puppy I cleverly named Rocky. I had been wanting a boxer for a while now and bought "Boxers for Dummies" to get a good idea of what to expect. Now, I had a shelty as a child but was never involved in any of the training since I was too young. He passed away years ago and I have only been around my fiance's dogs since. Again, I wasn't involved in any trainging of them either. So I am pretty new to it all. (Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated!)
Anyway, I recently moved into my own home and stayed there by myself, so it was lonely when my fiance was away. Well I had been away for work last week and when I came home, my fiance had this bugger in a laundry basket ready to surprise me. Needless to say it was the best surprise I have ever had... I love him so much.
I have had him a week now and let me tell you how quickly things have changed. At first he hardly ever ate... only when he was starving in the afternoon. He hardly played and slept ALL the time. He also hated his leash so I couldn't take him on any walks. Of course this all worried me but I assumed it was just because he was a puppy. NOW, I can hardly feed him enough, he still sleeps alot but when he is awake he loves to jump around and play. I've entered him in puppy classes so he can get along with other pups while learning a few commands at the same time. I've also had him around all my family and my 4 year old nephew and 6 year old neice. (My nephew calls him Roxy no matter how many times we tell him it is Rocky!) I can now take him on walks but I feel like I am choking him because he always wants to be 5 steps ahead of me.
So, I can imagine how much the next week will change as well. He learns so quickly and I know he is going to be a GREAT pet for years to come. I can start to list all the cute things he does but I'd go on forever. My favorite, though, is watchign him sleep on his beanbag chair. Last ngiht he kept rolling around to get comfortable and ended up sleeping on his back with his legs extended, head tilted and tongue sticking out. It was so funny that I had to video tape it.
Sorry I rambled on but I am eager to talk about all the little things he does!!!
