My how this website has changed much! I used to log onto boxerworld about 6 years ago, and it's changed alot! I had a fawn boxer named Cody, and he was 5 years old and died of cardio-myopathy last Christmas. It was so hard for me. I didn't think I could ever get another boxer because it reminded me of him. But I would always see boxers at the park and other places, and I really missed them. So this Christmas (well, a few days after) I was able to rescue one from the pound. He is a 4 year old Brindle. He is very skinny, and did have a tag on him that says "medication needed" I took him to the vet, and other than his weight he seems very healthy. He does have alot of gas, but it may be the food change. I will just have to monitor it. But I am so glad to have a boxer in my life again. He is very well behaved, very gentle with children, house trained, and is already being very protective when someone is knocking at the door. I am glad to read the posts regarding nutrition, and have been giving him satin balls to gain weight (which I think is what is giving him gas) I've also bought him Chicken Soup, which I noticed alot of people here are using. I am very thankful for this website, and will continue to post on his progress.

P.S. still trying to name him. His name at the pound was "shadow" but I don't like it. I've heard it's best to change their name to something that sounds similar so they will learn quicker, but I'm having a hard time finding something that rhymes with shadow.

Welcome

Welcome back. I can't help you out with the name, but for any gastro-intestinal problems, I recommend Canidae dog food. It's like medicine. And, if they have loose stool, I open up a can of their chicken and rice and it fixes the problem.

Welcome to BW! Hope you will find a name for your baby. Post for help in the naming your boxer thread and I am sure you will get tons of responses. I know how hard it is to get a new baby when you have lost another. Hope he helps you to enjoy boxers again. They are definitely the best.

Welcome to BW! Greetings from Alabama! Looking forward to hearing more about your baby! Have you thought about shortening Shadow to one syllable and then rhyming with Shad, Chad, Brad, etc?

Welcome back to Boxerworld. Sounds like you have a very sweet new baby. Let us know what you name him. I can't think of anything to rhyme with Shadow either, you could always do something that sounds like the last part, like Moe or Beau?? :) Good luck!
