Hi everyone. I just happened to stumble across this website and it looks great! I live in beautiful Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada! Is there anyone else out there from this area?

My husband has had boxers all his life growing up and finally talked me into getting one. We were originally going to get a puppy, but when I was contacting different people with available boxers, I heard about a 3 year old female that was available for adoption. After thinking it over, I decided that an adult was the way to go for my first dog...at the time, he was a trucker so not home very much, and I really didn't know if I could handle a puppy (like I said, I'd never had an inside dog before...only outside farm dogs). When we went to see her, I fell in love with her sweet personality immediately.

It took a few weeks of waiting for her, as she was an ex-show dog that had never been spayed and the owner wanted that done before we got her. We've had her with us now for almost a year, and I couldn't be happier with her. She's my sidekick. I take her everywhere with me that I possible can, and I can't imagine how dull my life would be without her in it. She has such a gentle temperament, although she can be incredibly stubborn at times....but she makes me laugh every day.

Welcome fellow BC'er. I am in the process of hopefully adopting another Boxer, we should get togeather for a play date. The last BC boxer picnic wash cancelled due to rain, hopefully we can try again soon.

Welcome to BW! Your girl is beautiful! I hope to hear more about her soon!
Maybe the next go-round you can get a pup! They certainly are a handful!

I would love that and so would Lola!!! She always has so much energy and the only way I've ever been able to really tire her out (other than taking her hiking) is when I've gotten her together with another boxer to play with....their energy really is amazing!

I know...I would have loved to get a puppy, they're so adorable. But I've been very happy with my girl. I was very nervous that I would do something wrong with a puppy and "wreck" them by training one incorrectly or something!

Welcome to Boxer World from Newfoundland, Canada. This is a great site and I've learned a lot. What a great thing to do adopting a 3 yr. old. That is something I would definitely consider if I didn't have 2 dogs already. I wasn't planning on another dog until my son got a boxer and found it too difficult with his work so thankfully, I ended up with our beautiful girl. I can't imagine my world without her now. Good luck and can't wait to see some pics of your baby.

P.S. I just looked into your gallery and found a pic. She is absolutely gorgeous.

So is your Ali!!! I love the floppy ears...unfortunately mine already had hers done when we got her, but I would have preferred them floppy....gives them more expression I think.

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. So nice that you adopted! My husband and I thought about it but decided to go with a puppy since we have no children and are not going to. But we've already decided the second boxer will be a rescue!
