hi! my name is nikki. i live in anchorage, alaska, with my husband, two dogs (saint bernard and boxer/bully mix), two kitties (both rescues), and five ferrets (three rescued).
river, our boxer mix, is now fifteen weeks old.
i adopted river from the alaska dog and puppy rescue when she was nine weeks old. we had recently lost our miniture pinscher and were just starting to consider another dog when we found her.
river's mom was a boxer found wandering in downtown anchorage. the nice people who took her in couldn't find her owners, and soon realized she was pregnant. they contacted the alaska dog and puppy rescue for help. from looking at the puppies, dad was most likey an apbt or american bulldog.
aside from being ridiculously adorable, river is such a sweet, intelligent dog. she is growing like a weed, and thriving in her puppy obedience classes. when she's old enough, we are hoping to get her certified as a therapy dog. my hubby's also mentioned an interest in agility.
she brings us so much joy, and has helped our hearts heal from the loss of our cyrus.
