Boxer Buddy
Hello everyone! I viewed this site when we first considered getting a boxer. All the posts helped us decided that a boxer was the right dog for our family. Now I excited to be member.
We brought our first boxer baby home on Friday, October 1st. She is a 6 week old flashy fawn with a brown patch right in the middle of her chest. We have named her Scout. My three older children adore her. My toddler isn't convinced. He doesn't like her licking him or jumping up on him. She also seems to go for his diaper while it is on; a little concern there. My husband always comments on how sad she looks.
I have considered using the bell option to help housebreak her but am concerned about how confusing this could potentially be when the cat sees the bells as a toy.
We have an older inside dog that is not amused by Scout's energy and a "middle-age" outside dog that is still showing her that it is his yard. The inside cat disappeared for the first two days we had Scout.
Anyway we are excited about having Scout in the family and appreciate any and all advice we get.

Hello from Texas

Hi... I too am from Texas (San Antonio) and also have a houseful. 3 kids (ages 11-21) and a female mini dachsund and a male neutered choc lab that stays outside and who will be "so" happy to have a playmate closer in size. A few outside cats too. I have not made my official introduction yet here at Boxerworld, we are getting our baby next week. I just saw that you were from Texas and thought I'd say Hi! I've had a hard time finding a boxer down here... lot's of backyard breeders. I finally found a breeder who offered pedigree information, pictures of relatives and a health guarantee. The puppy is a solid brindle with a pretty black face and a dot of white on her nose. I originally wanted a flashy but she was calmer than her flashy littermates. She is playful but wasn't constantly jumping up in your face for attention like the others, but instead went back and forth between me, my daughter and mother-in-law for attention. Anyway, we were all drawn to her personality and I guess thats the most important thing. She's a little older than I wanted, she is 15 weeks already. But then I guess that is good because we can start training her right away instead of going through the small puppy phase. Well, good luck with your family adjustments... I know I've got them coming too!
