Hello again, everyone.

We have a one year old brindle boy, Shiva, and will bringing home his 10 week old sister, Kali, just before Christmas! (Our breeders are taking care of her until we can get some time off!)

Just have to say I love this community and though I don't post often, I really enjoy reading everyone else's posts and seeing everyone's beautiful boxers in the gallery!

Congratulations on your newest member of the family, Kali (cute name BTW)!! Your Shiva is adorable - I especially like the picutre of him with his mouth open. Let us know when you add Kali's to your gallery ~ Cathy

Congratulations! If your experience is one tenth of what ours has been since we brought Indy's younger half sister/cousin home when he was fifteen months old, you are in for a treat.

You will be amazed at how gentle a year old Boxer can be with a puppy. Indy stepped around Ava, and never once did he put any weight on his paw when he felt it touch her. He'd instantly place it somewhere else before bearing any weight on it.

Shiva will probably do more to teach the new pup bite inhibition than you can.

Ava would frequently bite too hard on Indy's ear or neck during play, and he would stand still and whine pathetically until she released her grip. He never retaliated.

If Shiva is crate trained, then he can do that job too. Indy gladly shared his crate with Ava, and by the time she was large enough that his crate got a bit crowded, she was happy to go in hers, which was along side of his.

Even now, they will occasionally share the same crate for bried periods, though they have to lie side by side. Their crates are the next to largest size that Precision or Midwest makes.

Best of luck with your new family member. It's one of the best things you can do for Shiva. We got Ava to be a companion for Indy. We have't regretted it for a microsecond.
