I recently bought a boxer from a breeder, and the breeder told me to not be alarmed if the vet said he had a heart murmur because when they are puppies a lot of boxers have hear murmur's but it always subsides when they get older. Is this true?

Please do a search in the forum section for previous posts about murmurs. Some do disappear with age , but many don't.

I do not know if a puppy's heart murmur ALWAYS goes away, but I can tell you that when we brought Charlie home that the vet said he had a heart murmur. Within a month, it was gone. Hope this helps.

8 out of 10 boxers have heart murmors in varying degree's. Tess has a grade 1 but Belle is clear. This is what my vet said and apparantly most lead perfectly normal lives.

chelsea has a mild one and the vet said it hasn't gotten worse, but she checks it at every visit to keep it monitored.
