I am not informed of the laws pertaining to America but here in NZ we have a law called consumer protection act.

This means that whatever a person purchases, they have the right to reimbursment or replacement if said goods , services etc do not fulfil the purpose they were intended for. This also covers animals .

If you purchased the pup for breeding and or showing purposes you would be entitled to reimbursment as the pup cannot fulfil these requirements.

If the pup was purchased as a pet only but has medical problems requiring veterinary intervention, once again, you are entitled to compensation.

This is a fairly newish law here and I have no idea how successful it has been but I think it is a good idea in so much as it would reduce the amount of fraudulent sales and hopefully even animal suffering.

Well one of Blly's testicles didn't drop until 16 weeks. Then we had him neutered at about 24 weeks.

Also last year at the age of 3.5 the vet said he had a slight heart murmur, but one year on at his health check the vet couldn't hear a murmur. So did he grow out of it? Or do some vets 'hear' the heart differently?

Definitely vets hear the heart differently, that is why pre-breeding heart screening should be done by a veterinary cardiologist (as they spend most of their time listening to dog hearts, and are much better at picking up the nuances of the beats).
