I'm a newbie here and have been really interested reading your experiences with head tremors. Firstly, sorry this is so long but hope the details will trigger some common thread (no pun intended!). The description "like Parkinsons" is so accurate. My white boy Bobby started having them 2.5 months ago and the first episode scared me to death. He just strolled in the kitchen one evening and stood there as if to say Hey Mum what's happening? It stopped within a minute, and he was aware of everything throughout. Another one came about 5 minutes later and we went straight to emergency vet. She thought it could be epilepsy but since then our vet ruled it out (and through my research, it's appeared to me to be quite different to that). We kept a video handy and a few nights later, he had another one which we managed to film so the vet could see the whole thing. He was puzzled and had not heard of Boxer head tremors. I've been trying to think what had happened/changed before the first one started - looking for clues. OK, about one month or so prior, he had had his annual booster shots and later a rabies booster (we may move overseas). 2 weeks before, Bobby (and his sister) had been boarding for one week and later he was ill (vomiting, blood in stools, weight loss). Lots of blood tests etc - nothing conclusive - bit of a mystery. Later we thought the initial illness might have been triggered by stress? (1st time in kennels). After first tremor, vet queried visiting a neurologist but advised they would possibly find nothing and suggested we try a course of Prednisolone first with a low fat (Lite) diet - still vomiting once a day in morning. Tremors happened twice after that. Now off tablets, he's back to his old self, gained the weight etc and no tremors for about one month.
GoCougs - yes, he seems to have them when he has just woken up or very relaxed on the lounge - never in the day (that we see).
Debbie2166 - to answer your query to all - he was on Advocate heartworm & wormer, just switched him back to Revolution (with sep worm tabs).
Sorry this is so long - thought I'd put the key points in case anyone's history is similar. I'd also be really interested in any episodes of tremors with Boxers in Australia, everything I've read so far has been in US.

We may have found the culprit!

Brandy had another tremor last night, and I think I found out what may be causing it. Every time she has had a tremor (she always has them at night) sometime during that day my husband played with her using the laser pointer. I am not sure if this is the reason but it seem odd that when she has been exposed to it, she has a tremor.

That seems strange - but who's to say it isn't that. I know it isn't in Bobby's case as we don't have a laser pointer. It's interesting that they're always in the evening - same with Bobby - after he's been sleeping or lying down resting. Hope this is the answer for you, let us know how it goes after you stop using it.

Chancey had head tremors last night

....she was alseep and it woke me(she sleeps with me). I've had epileptic dogs before and didn't think it was epilepsy. She was alseep,I touched her ,she awoke and it stopped. As soon as she fell alseep again it started it again-this time it woke her and she shifted. This went on for hours. She was to have a swelling drained this morning and has been on antibiotics for 4 days. The swelling was gone completely this morning(was still at golf ball size last night)but took her in about the tremors. The vet looked up possible side effects of the antibiotics.....could cause hallugenations...right now we're going to change the antibiotic and see what happens. I know it will be another sleepless night for me because I will be laying there waiting for anything abnormal. ...found THIS thread while researching canine head tremors on Google LOL. Small world!
