Head Question?

Keyser my male boxer puppy is almost 12 weeks old. On the top of his head, directly between his ears, there is a "hump" or rounding on his skull. My father called this an "egg head" (?). Anyway, it doesn't make him look atypical. I was just wondering if this is usually flat, or if it will change over time, as he develops.

Also, I noticed a 7 year old male boxer at the pet store this past weekend, and his head was almost "creased" down the middle of the top of his skull. Kind of a divot almost... not that drastic, but that's the only way I can think to explain it.

Yes, the egg head is normal for puppies. Lily still has a bit of one left at 20 mos. but as she matures and her head widens, it will eventually be flat. Different types of boxers have either a crease or flat.

As your baby gets older, it will eventually flatten out, if not crease.

An egg head is usually considered desirable in puppies and an indicator of good head shape as an adult. That's a simplification, or course - but still a good generalisation.
