Depends on the type of food you are feeding. The current food would require MORE than a healthier option. Also depends on activity level, size, etc....

To be honest for an 8 week old Boxer 11lbs does NOT sound underweight. Maybe a tad thin by a pound-ish but as long as he is thriving and able to gain weight I wouldn't worry about it. Your vet will be able to tell you how your guy is doing weight-wise.

Seeing ribs is completely normal for boxer puppies. I'd expect that over the next few weeks the ribs will become much more apparent as he grows. Boxer pups are notoriously skinny from about 10 weeks old to nearly 7 months. They do grow out of it though and eventually fill out on their own, so no need to increase his portions to try to put weight on him (it probably won't do much good anyways). It sounds like you're feeding a good amount. I would look into switching the food he's on though :)

Caney weighed 11 lbs when she was 8 weeks old. Now she's nearly 2.5 yrs, and weighs 65 lbs. That doesn't necessarily mean that yours will follow the same pattern though, because boxer puppies seem to all grow at their own rate. Every pup is different; no use comparing one to the next it seems. But they do all have one thing in common -- they all go through the skinny phase!

I agree about switching food. Make sure when you switch foods, you switch gradually (mix some of the old stuff in for a few days, then gradually taper it out) so that it's not hard on his tummy.

Hello...so yeah, the above posts are 100% accurate. Luckily for you (and me too) this very site has alot of useful info on it. Click the HOME tab above, click on Puppies FAQ and read ALL 12 (perhaps you can leave the last one out for now) all the way through.
Its great that you're concerned about your pup but perhaps you jumped the gun by not reading up on the useful info that the internet has to offer. I recommend reading all that you can on how to to raise a pup and mold him into a beautiful and well behaved family member that he (and you) wants to be.
Good luck :)
