I have the female and my wife's friend has the male of a small litter. Tiara had one accident in the crate and it was #2. She has had about 5 accidents outside the crate in 7 weeks.
Her brother however has had more accidents than you can count.
What we did was the following:
1- No water after 8pm.
2- Out right before bed
3- know the difference between a let me out I have to pee whine and a just let me out whine
4- let em out right after crate and all meals
5- teach them to use one door to go out by using only it and saying out out out
6- keep in crate most of the time. tiara gets out at like 1 hr intervals between play and sleep
that teaches them to extend the "hold time".
7- praise when they go and say go potty...she is starting to almost go on command its crazy
8- don't make a fuss if they go inside, its our fault not theirs and clean up the smell
9- take frequent trips outside during the day....at 8 weeks that could be every 30-45 min
There is light at the end...Tiara is 13 weeks and goes in the crate at 930-1000pm and sleeps most nights straight through the night till 630-700am. 95% of the time when she has to go, she sits by the back slider and waits....we will be adding the bell now that she knows the correct spot to wait.
