He howls when My Niece Cries?

ok, evere since my niece has been living with us my dog(Chester) howls every time she cries. What could this possibly mean? As soon as she starts he sits down, head back and just howls when she cries, and he stops immediately when she stops....Is he telling us something or is he just having fun with the baby(she will be 2 in March)

Not sure why they do this but dogs often howl at certain sounds. Our rottie never howled in his life then one new years eve we started blowing these noise makers and he howled soo loud we couldn't stop laughing. Must effect their ears or something.

Corgan was a howler when my kids were babies. Every time he was in the same room with them and they started, he'd howl. It would stop the crying pretty fast. :p
