Somehow, I have trained Deuce to be scared of the word "BAD" If he hears that word, he will stop whatever he is doing and check on Dioge to make sure he is doing good also.

We have been amazed at how many words our boxer Blaze has learned. I use different words for different situations. Like: "That's enough" when he gets carried away jumping and barking. He understands and stops. "Down" when he is on furniture he shouldn't be. It takes a lot of time and practice, but they are so smart! My favorite phrase he knows is "Grandma's house". When ever I say that, he knows we're going to my mom's and he runs to the front door waiting to go in the car! I guess the biggest thing is to repeat the words you are using over and over again in the situation and he will learn them.

RE: What part of no............?

Well great minds really do think alike!! This is my first post here and I have to say that this board is a wealt h of information for boxer owners.

I am a proud mom of a 10 week old Boxer pup named Beau. I logged on this morning to ask a question about this very subject. This is my first puppy and I did a lot of reading before and after purchase and I know that puppies chew and bite, etc. Beau is biting constantly!!!!!! Anything and everything. He bites hands feet , (my favorite sweatpants!!). I corect him every time and say "No bite", hand him his toy tell him good boy but this just seems to incite him and he growls and bites more. I have now started to put him in his crate after without any fanfare.

So, just how much biting is normal and do I have an aggresive pup, or do I just need to establish my role in a different manner to get him to listen? I appreciate all your help.

I LOVE BOXERS!!!!

We are going thru the teen stage with Kiki being almost 8 months old. We use Ah Ah and it sounds like 2 ailens trying to communicated with one another, but works good. Now she is trying to push the limits. I also use a spray bottle with about 1 tablespoon of vinegar in it..just a tad bit of smell that way she won't eat it- -she used to like the water bottle. I am now wondering if she will settle a bit more if she is spayed. We also use the "settle" and she lays on her side and I just rub her and say quiet and she trys to be good for a min. Just trying to have patience.....
