My Boxer, now 10yrs old, still to this day brings a shoe or sock to everyone that enters my house. A shoe is his favorite to bring to people. Just wanted to see if any other Boxers do this or something similar.
Also, my Boxer has a growth on his side(its only a fatty tissue the Vet said) but is it worth removing or should I just leave it for the time being. Its not very big but its noticeable..What would you guys do?

Samantha always brings me a toy when I get home from work, but when we have visitors, my two don't bring them anything. I think it's sweet that yours brings your guests a shoe!!

As for the lump, if the vet hasn't seen it, I'd get the vet to look at it. He/she can advise you what to do.

Mason brings toys to us & our guests when we come home. But bringing the shoes is adorable. lovicon I always thought Mason picked it up from his older sister Hannah, who was a golden retriever and that is a huge trait for them, but then I joined this site and found out that many other boxers bring their moms & dads things too.

If the vet thinks the fatty tissue is okay, I'd leave it. My Hannah got two as she aged and they were okay. My friends' boxer who is 6 has one right above his tail and the vet checks it at every visit. He told her if she notices any changes to bring him in to have it checked. It has been there for three years and hasn't changed at all. You can always try another vet for a second opinion if it makes you more comfortable. Good luck! :)

Maybe he's saying "Heres your shoes now get out!" He wants his mommie all to himself!!!! He He He I think it's cute. Mine dont bring anything to anybody but us. And then it's one of their toys covered in slobber. The other night I had to put Micah's ball on top of the fridge becasue he kept dropping it in my lap while I was trying to watch TV. It would have been different if I had not just played with him outside with the ball for an hour. He sat in front of the fridge and stared at it for 15 minutes!! Like it was gonna just jump off back into his mouth or something!

Gunner always brings us something, anything he can pick up in his mouth. We call it "The Offering"

It's rather funny to see stuff sticking out of his mouth, while he's beaning and wiggling from excitement of you or someone else walking into the house.

My puppies never brings gift unless they want to play. When Logan was a couple months old, my wife would leave a pair of shoes by the back door to take him outside while house breaking him. Well one day we caught him with a shoe in his mouth. So we told him it was wrong. Well this continued on for about a week before we realized what he was doing. He was bringing his mommy her shoes so she could take him outside. Every once in awhile my wife and I will talk about it and she always says about how he was smarter than us because he knew what the shoes were for and we couldn't even figure out why he was carrying a shoe around.

Ava never brings a "gift", but Indy has learned to.

Indy was over a year old when we got Ava as a puppy, so Indy never had competition for attention. Indy is more independent and self confident than Ava, who craves attention, and normally does not like to be alone. She prefers our company to Indy's, since she will leave a room they are both in to follow one of us humans when we go to another room.

Indy is definitely the Alpha, but when someone comes to our home, Ava is more assertive at getting the attention, and of course when she was a puppy, people were naturally more interested in her.

At some point, Indy concluded that the only way to compete with his sister for attention, was to bring an offering to offset Ava's advantage. Now, though Ava is grown, she will be the first to the door to greet someone, but Indy will search for an appropriate offering, then once he has it, he will go to the door.

As they say, "Necessity is the mother of invention."
