Our Toby was diagnosed with severe HD in both hips last week. He is 10 months old. Our Vet and another specialist said he needs to undergo surgery. The type of surgery will be decided by the specialist after he reviews the x-rays and Toby's movement. Either hip joint implants or cutting off both heads on the femoral bones. The removal of the femoral heads ( scar tissue will then form ) will prevent the jolting, rubbing, and pain. He will learn to walk, run, and jump using more of his back leg muscles. Because we have him from private people who did not breed him, we cannot locate the mother or father, but our Vet suspects BYB!! ( Backyard Breeder ) This has been totally devastating for us. He is not allowed to conduct agility and obedience training anymore. We ask those of you who have Boxe'rs with HD for some supporting advice and alot of prayers!! Thanks!
