Well Maddy has been suffering from Diarrohea lately so we took her to the vets because we were concerned, he reckons its just an infection and gave her some tablets and said to starve her for 24hours. That cost 48 GBP and we had to get up 5 times in the night because she needed to poo over and over and also she was farting like nobodies business, very stinky. Today Steven took a day off work to make sure she was feeling okay and to spend a day with her. We went to the field for a walk and just as we were comming off she was rolling all in grass I thought oh shes being a loon as usual but then as we stepped through the gate I noticed some swelling on her eye. I ran down the hill to get home to take a close look, both her eyes were swollen and she had lumps all over her face. We sprinted to get the car keys and her lead and zipped her to the vets. Having suffered on the floor for almost five mins then the receptionist looked over and so ooh whats wrong - silly woman!! So she got a tablet and another injection to reduce the swelling, needless to say I was distraught almost in tears as my baby means so much to me and i could see she was suffering. This one cost 36GBP, which we dont have right now because of yesterday so said we rushed out and didnt have it, ill have to pay as soon as I have my wages. A few hours later and its all gone, phew, so we go out and buy her a walking vest jacket thing for camping this weekend as a little cheer up pressie for her being ill. Come 7ish her back had some spots again so we panick and ring the vets they acted like morrons again and didnt help at all, said if we were worried bring her in but they obviously didn't have a clue what was going on. So we left it for an hour and maddy got some sleep, shes woken up and they have gone again it must of just been a bit left over in her system. As you can imagine I feel frazzled, next thing on the line is insurance for Maddy, as soon Steven gets his paycheck, its due soon and money soon runs out as you all know. The only thing that is keeping me sane right now and stoping me from crumpling after today is the fact that we're off looking at some GSD puppies on thursday as a friend for Maddy and the fact we're off camping this weekend and off to Scotland in a few weeks to visit relatives. I was so worried for maddy and I hope everything will get better now, shes had her first bit of food tonight and shes got three tablets left for the morning and she hasnt farted or been for a dribbly poo in a while, so things may be on the up, please keep your fingers crossed!!

So sad!

I hope Maddy feels better soon!
Samson has had a tough few days too, I stayed home from work yesterday so I could take him to the vet... he has an ear infection and allergies I guess- his paws are very irritated and he is always biting at them and sometimes crying- which is bad cuz Samson never cries! Even when hes playing with his babe, Booda the huge Pitt or his friend Fergie the American Masiff... but his poor paws have been killing him- the vet told us it was an allergy and gave us an antihistamine. They gave us all these ear drops and cleaner to keep the bacteria and yeast out, and he hates it- what a challenge to get that stuff in! Plus hes on antibiotics too- my poor baby! The medicine sedates him so hes all tired... we're taking him to the cape this weekend we are going camping and boating- his first of both! Hopefully he feels up to it!

If Maddy was having an allergic reaction, Benadryl might help her. Sounds like those lumps were hives. You did not say what tablets the vet gave you but if you are camping this weekend, you may want to take some Benadryl along. My vet told me that the dosage is 1mg per pound every 8 hours for a healthy dog. Hope she is feeling better.

I am glad Maddy is feeling better. Don't take this to be mean, but if you don't have money to take care of Maddy's vet bills, why are you looking to get another puppy now? Pet insurance doesn't cover everything. Maybe you could just make play dates for her right now until the financial situation gets better? - Or am I misreading your post. Again, I'm not trying to be mean.

Dreaded money

Money is tight right now because its the last week before pay day so its always a bit low, we had enough money for the first visit which was fine but then the shock visit suprised us, so we didn't have enough time to sort something out. We have enough money because I have a caring mum who has given me some money seeing as work didn't have my paycheck yet. As soon as I get paid and Steven does we will have lots of money and also the new puppy is from my work and I am paying for it with my wages. Normally we are ifne its just the suprise one was unexpected and left us high and dry so to speak. :)

Yeah we're definitely gonna have to set one of those up as well as insurance so the excess is always in the bank.
