Has anyone seen anything like this before?

I got my baby when she was about 6 months old from a woman living in a studio who finally realized there just wasn't enough room for a boxer..

I noticed she had a small bump on the top of her head so when I took her in to get her shots I asked the vet about it. He told me not to worry that he knew the breeder she originally came from and that all the puppies were born with the same bump. So I didn't worry until recently. It's gotten really big..It doesn't seem to bother her at all..and it's not attached to her skull I can move it around no problem, and its squishy. It's never leaked or bled but this is me being a paranoid parent.

I think I would be finding a new vet! I have had 2 Boxers as pups and neither of them have had anything like that so it isn't something that all puppies are born with! **Unless your vet is saying that all of this particular breeder's pups have it. Either way I would want to know what it was.
When I first saw the picture I thought they were ticks. EWWW, I know but that is where my mind went.

I go with the above, I cant see how a vet could possibly think that those lumps were ok. id get another vet to have a look if I were you.

I agree, that is not normal and I would find a new vet. It almost looks like there is a paw growing out of your pups head.

yeah I will definitely be finding a new vet asap. Thanks for your input guys, I was just wondering if it was a common thing. I'm new to being a boxer mommy

I believe this looks like a Hair Follicle Cyst. Yes, there is some heritability to these. No it is not serious, but I would have it removed when you have her spayed. Some stay small and never cause problems, but some to grow and require removal when the pup is older. Better to remove when small, so the scar is smaller.

I do know of one particular bloodline in my area that seems to have produced a few pups with these.

Don't put it high on the worry list, but keep an eye on it.

Darby has something similar looking on her side. 3 vets have told me it is nothing to worry about and no need to put her under for it to be removed but if she ever needed surgery it could be removed at that time. Since she was diagnosed with DM, and is almost 8y/o she will not be having any surgeries that aren't absolutely, positively necessary as surgery can make the DM progress faster. So, the bump will likely stay on her the rest of her life. A 2nd opinion can never hurt!

No, definitely not NORMAL but not necessarily something bad. Your vet may be correct that all the pups from that breeder have this, but I would want my vet to tell me what it is and give me options, not just brush it off so casually.

Personally, harmless or not I would get it removed because I would not want to see/feel it all the time . Especially if it has been growing.

I agree w/ Draymia. I had the same thing removed from one of mine when he was about 10months old (same place too on top of his head). It was a Follicular Cyst. Follicular and sebaceous cysts are common in dogs and are benign. I agree take it off at her spay if it hasnt gone away. I think your vet is one of the few that would not freak you out and recommend additional testing...not necessarily a bad thing.
