Try a higher quality food ;) Eukanuba is a fairly low quality food, no idea about the Red Mill (and I don't find an ingredient list on their website).

Dry dog foods in the UK are not great, and there are few quality options available. The best quality dry dog food that I'm aware of that can be purchased in the UK (and therefore probably in Ireland) is Solid Gold. Gmacleod posted a link to an online store where it can be purchased in this thread (no idea if there are other outlets for it): http://boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85940

You wouldn't need the allergy formula (Holistique Blendz), but that site also sells some of their other foods which could be a good choice for your pup.

thank you

thanks for your advice, i thought i had put him on a good quailty food by getting eukanuba its over double the price of the redmill, why if its low quality is it so expensive i just presumed it was one of the best i think ill put him back on to redmill and see if that sorts it out, ill let you know how i get on. jane

I have no idea if Redmill is any good either, but you could take a look at it's ingredients and also at this page www.boxerworld.com/feeding which tells you how to choose a good quality dry dog food. A food can only ever be as good as the ingredients that go into it, and that page tells you what to look for, what to avoid, and why.

As for Eukanuba - no, it's not a very good food. It's a low-mid range one (not the worst, by any means - but not great either). Price isn't really the best indicator of quality. Things like Hills Science Plan certainly aren't priced as junk, but junk they most certainly are ;)

The best food I'm aware of that's available in the UK (I have no idea what's in Ireland) is Solid Gold. Next best would probably be James Wellbeloved or Burns (though I'd still only rate those two as mid-range).
