There are a couple pictures of Cadie's hair loss posted on the link below. Does anyone know what this looks like? The hair loss on her sides has almost completely disappeared. The patches on her face have seemed to come and go for the past few weeks - sometimes barely visible.

Have you had your vet do a skin scrape to test for mange? If not I would do so...

i feed them both pro plan chicken since they were puppies.

I would get them onto a high quality food, pro plan is pretty low quality. Any food off the WDJ list is great.

My Riley is 9 months old and she has bald spots on her back and on her neck, the vet has done scraping but said it can't be mange because she isn't itchy and it isn't seasonal flank alopecia because it would be on both sides of the body evenly she said, so I am still waiting for results of the tests but they gave her an antibiotic incase it is bacteria. She is on purina one our vet recommended it, anyone know what else we can do she isn't sick or sore, I am just worried about her too. does anyone have any suggestions for us.

I Have Three Boxers, One Female Who Has This Problem Each Year When The Seasons Change And It Gets Warmer Out...kinda Funny She Is 11 Years Old, And Each Year Same Thing. I Have Taken Her To The Vet And Yes She Is Fine Each Time..she Is Also The One Of Mine Which Her Hair Is Velvetty Smooth And Super Shiny, She Is Very Sensitive To Touch, And I Can't Change Laundry Detergent When It Comes To Their Blankets, She Is Allergic To Certain Things, Except Tide. I Know It Is Scary, But I Assure You It Is Common For Boxers And If The Vet Has Checked You Baby Out, She May Be One Of The Sensitive Ones Too. FOR YOU SHY 1, HAVE YOU CHANGED ANY KIND OF SOAPS OR CARPETING? WHILE NOT ITCHING IT COULD POSSIBLY BE ALLERGY RELATED, WHICH CAN BE COMMON WITH SOME DOGS.

I saw the notes about boxers and hairloss and here is just one other thing to think about. My boxer Rocco has lost a lot of hair also. I ran into someone who said their boxer had the same thing and after going to three vets they finally tested his thyroid and found he was hypothyroid. Anyway I just got my dogs blood results back and he is as the vet put it Mildly hypothyroid. Although after reading up on this I am concerned because my vet said that if my dog had not been showing any symptoms she would not treat simply on the blood results because he is mildly hypothyroid. Now my thought is maybe he does have the "Seasonal Follicular dysplasia" and does not need treatment. Rocco has no other symptoms of hypothyroid just the hairloss. Anyway my point is that you should discuss it with your vet and it might be worth doing the Thyroid test. Hypothyroid is very common in Boxers. I have a follow up in a month and I will bring this up with my vet. I figure by then if his hair does not grow back I may reconsider treating his thyroid. Also of interest I have run into at least 5 people in the last month that have boxers and they all have the same thing (hairloss and don't know what it is.) Rocco had this problem last year and it did resolve. I will update you on his progress.

Update

Cadie's trip to the vet resulted in a postive test for mange - although it's a rather minor case. Looks like she'll be receiving a handful of "special baths" in the coming months. Thanks for the advice!

We took out puppy to the vet 3 weeks ago, they did the scraping and gave her antibiotics but she still losing hair on her back they look like little spots up her back and on her neck, the hair where they scraped her is growing back, but the vet called last week and said they were still waiting for the results, I am worried if they don't hurry she will lose most of her fur. they ruled out mange because they kept her the morning and say she is not itchy anyone have any ideas.
