I need to vent! I've been silently fuming since yesterday afternoon.

:::Vent mode on:::

My brother and sister-in-law have a 1-year-old dog (beagle and daushund (?) mix) named Max that Oscar has played with since we brought him home (only a few hours at a time). It's been 2-3 weeks since Oscar last saw Max and Oscar has grown quite a bit in that time. Oscar now is at least 2X the size of Max.

My brother and SIL were going out of town for the weekend and asked if we might sit for Max. Sure, no problem, Oscar would enjoy the company. Friday night they dropped Max off (along with my 9 year-old niece). Friday went fine but mid Saturday morning, I noticed that Max was getting quite aggressive/snappy with Oscar (Max is neutered). Max would grab onto Oscar's leg and sweet Oscar would do a slow gentle somersault over Max, careful not to land on him and then lay submissively on the floor letting Max crawl all over him. It got to the point that anything Oscar would do (lay down, pick up a toy, etc) Max went after him. I tried to let them sort it out, took Max outside to cool down, etc. They pretty much came to an understanding except for the occassional outbursts from Max. Oscar let Max be dominant but would do the occasional "you can play with my toys--just not that particular toy." :LOL:

Late Sunday afternoon, my brother and SIL came to pick up Max and my niece. We were chatting at the kitchen table when Max and Oscar starting playing under the table. My niece was going to stop them and I pointed out to her they were playing and to leave them be. My SIL then adds "Yeah, Max will show Oscar whose boss." I sat there motified by A: the statement itself B: this is OSCAR'S home NOT Max's C: Oscar was doing nothing to warrant a comment like this.

You've probably guessed I have do not really care for my SIL (Don't dislike her though). :D I try to overlook her comments in general but this just really ticked me off. It people with these attitudes that really make me peeved.

Thanks for listening!

Hey, don't let something this insignificant get to you; there's bigger fish to fry!!!! By making no snide comment back was the best response --- hang in there!!!!

I have found that venting to others is the best policy! Usually when i say something back to the stupid person I get myself in big trouble. Carolinablue is right. Let your SIL think she's the sh&t, it comes back!
Hang in there!

Hey, you did good! In situations like this, my motto is to just smile and nod! Smile and nod! Specially since it's your SIL. You handled the dog situation really well too (or rather your dog did)! Beefie

Congratulations on holding your tongue, Kim. It takes a strong person to handle a situation like that as well as you did. Your SIL sounds like a real "winner"...what a lucky man your brother is...ha,ha. :LOL:

I hope your brother will nominate you for "Sister of the Year" award after taking care of his dog and then putting up with his wife so politely. I'm sure I would have told her where to stick it if it had been my table she was sitting at.
