Growling!

I have a 6 month old,female boxer and my boyfriend has just gotten a 3 month old male boxer. He has been in the family for about 2 weeks now. My concern is when ever they play together he get to growling really loudly and he grabs a lot more skin than what my female does. But it does seem like it's just play. He is half the size of her and he puts her down though. Today, when they were playing, my boyfriend picked him up and he kept growling at him. Should this be a concern and what should I do? I have heard of some people having top put there boxers down for becoming mean and I don't have the heart to do that. HELP!

Yeah, there's growling and growling as well as barking and barking. Cosworth makes all sorts of growls, snorts, barks, and spits when he plays.

WHen Titan plays with his sister, he's the louder of the two. And he growls more and pulls a little more skin and is a bit rougher than his sister. I know they are just playing because soon as they are done playing they lick and kiss each other's faces--such sweeties.

Jade growls when she is rough housing with her playmates, but they are all older and when they get tired and call time out, she just goes and snuggles with them till they catch their breath and start all over again. I wouldn't worry too much, if your girl gets tired of it or doesn't like something the boy does she will let him know.

ive never heard of a boxer becoming so mean they had to be put down, i didnt think they had a mean bone in their body. as for the growling when your puppy growls at you he is showing his dominace and asserting it. tell him no in a loud voice and walk away from him, he should not be growling at his owners some people find it cute but its not and that lets the dog believe they are the alpha over you, keep doing this until he learns that you will not play with him or give him attention when he does this. your female will let him know when the play gets to rough for her that is how they play-rough

Likely he continues barking after you pick him up because you've interrutped something he liked and he hopes the growling will make you put him down, which is what he wants. Sam does this too. I just tell him no and keep carrying him toward whatever I was planning on doing.

Dillon has played with a neighbors boxer since he was a pup. We met them when they were about 12 weeks (she is 2 weeks older than he is). When they met...Lila would growl ferociously at him. We thought they would never be friends. We found that most of the growling was because we had them on their leads. We slowwwwwwly let them start to get used to each other and they will roll and play and wrestle now and it's so cute. While they were still in the little puppy stage, they always growled while playing, now they don't, but when they were little, it was pretty rough. We just made sure that when either of them got too rough and snapped or sounded like Cujo that we immediately separated them.

Don't worry, they will become good friends in time. Just watch the puppy teeth. We let Dillon play with the neighbors Weimeriner (sp?) who is a little pup and he would bite at the neck just like the boxers do, we thought it was so cute until they were done and poor Dillon had scratches everywhere and was bleeding. He wasn't being rough, but those puppy teeth are like knives.
