Growling during play

Just a question... does the growling ever lead to barking?

Dieter rarely barks, even when he's gotten riled up during playtime. Once or twice he has barked during play that I can remember over the couple of years we've had him. I don't think the growling leading to barking would be an indicator of a problem... again, as many have stated in this thread, I think it's just boxer exuberance/excitement. If you can't stand the noise though (they bark soooo loud!) it might be a good idea to work on the "no bark" command.

I agree with your comments, too, Cami. We know the difference between Dieter's play growl and his warning growl, too, but I had never considered that it would be a bad thing to inhibit growling for certain situations, since they can sense things we can't and are GREAT watchdogs!

Siren doesn't growl at all when she's playing but Kevlar growls like a madman. When she WANTS Kevlar to play with her...or when he has something she wants to play with - she flat out barks at him. She does growl to warn of danger or stranger.....and it's a deep scary growl. She doesn't even do the woo-woo thing I've read so much about. I'm sad I miss out on that stuff.

The only noise she makes it burps (loud ones) and snorts and snoring. Oh my heck that girl can snore!!
