Boxer Pal
Hi, my puppy girl is 9 weeks old and has been with us for 9 weeks. The last few days when we play with her or holding her she suddenly growls and bark and the kids and wife get quite scary. Any ideas of how to understand and deal with this aggression? Thanks

It isn't aggression ;) It sounds like normal puppy play (and boxers are notoriously vocal when they play - which means barking and growling).

As for how to deal with it - if you don't like it, don't encourage it. Things that would encourage it include continuing to play with her when she barks, giving her attention (including negative attention), or responding in any way that she can interpret as either engaging in her play or giving her attention.

Instead, do the precise opposite and immediately cease playing - get up and walk away from her. If she consistently gets that disappointing response when she's excited by the play, or trying to get you to play - then she'll give it up once convinced that it has the undesirable effect of you stopping to engage with her. It is exactly the opposite of what she's trying to achieve, and as long as it continues to be the opposite, you will be able to extinguish the barking.
