I too highly recommend the dremmel for trimming nails! It works wonderfully!

As far as bathing goes, I agree with all the above. Marley tends to get baths more often in the summer since he's outside more, getting muddy, etc. One of the best things we purchased was a detachable shower head with a long hose. It makes baths much quicker and easier! In fact, I think we have one of those dogs who actually likes getting baths! When it's time, he jumps right in the tub and waits for us! Another nice things is to have a supply of baby wipes near the back door to wipe off muddy/dirty paws.

We have a hand held shower and often times I will just shower off her lower legs and paws. In the summer I brush her ourside but in the winter I brush her in the tub. All the loose hair is easy to see and wiped right up with a damp paper towel.

How and why are you supposed to clean their ears? I didn't know you were supposed to do that!!!!!!!! OOOOPS!

I checked out that site, it seems like a good tool. Is it something you can buy just about anywhere in a cosmetics department? Does anyone know where they sell them in Canada? Whats the average price range for one of them?

I read something about cleaning the ears in a grooming book but it wasn't specific to boxers. This is what is said:

"Holding the ear flap back, clean the ears with alcohol or ear cleaner if necessary and apply ear powder to ensure the ear stays healthy and mite-free. After applying ear powder and leaving it in for a few minutes, use forceps (?- groomer's tool i think) to clean the hair from the ear, removing tiny bits of hair at a time. This will be less painful than using fingers."

I'm not sure if this applies to boxers as well? Maybe someone else can help.

One of my fosters is prone to ear infections and Roxy has had one, too, so ear cleaning is a weekly thing for us. I bought ear cleaning pads from my pet nutrition place that looks just like acne pads (small round cotton discs), I gently wipe out their ears, they love it! If you look inside their ears, you'll probably see some blackish junk down in the ears, this is what you are after. Just be careful not to go too deep, but my guys love it, they dance around when I get the little container out of the cabinet. I also about once every other week apply drops into their ears for prevention at my vet's suggestion.

They actually sell them where most hand tools are sold. I'm not sure which stores are available in Canada - we bought ours at either Home Depot or Lowe's. You should be able to purchase one at any hardware store or online.

I think we paid around $50 or somewhere around there. Here is the link to the Dremel site: http://www.dremel.com/HTML/home_fr.html.
