Grinding Teeth

My brindle male, Boomer, has just recently started grinding his teeth every now and then. Whenever he does do it, it seems to be after a yawn or when he is trying to get comfortable before a nap or bed. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it but man is it loud sometimes!

He just had his yearly exam and is in great health so I'm kinda stumped by it. The only thing that is out of the ordinary is that it coincides with his neutering a few months ago. I've done a little research but can't find any symptoms that apply to him.

Has anyone been down this road before with your Boxer??

George used to grind his teeth when he was going to sleep. He did it from the time he was a pup until he passed away last year. Not sure why he did it.

Leia does this too. Some dogs do it because of stress, just like humans. While others do it because of stomach acid. Turned out Leia has Pancreatitis.

Thanks for the replies. I wondered about the stomach acid so I decided to give him Pepcid with his meals and didn't really notice any difference during the week. I like to think he leads a pretty stress free life so I ruled that out. How did you get Leia tested to catch the Pancreatitis?

Did your vet check his teeth? is something stuck? Our vet checked for that and then we tried the DAP collar. Dog Appeasing Pheramone because our trainer thought maybe she was stressed. It stopped for a bit but then it started again and then was worst. The only thing that made us realize it was Pancreatitis was because Leia started throwing up alot in the middle of the night and her poo wasn't normal. And she gained a ton of weight. So our vet checked her thyroid and did a blood panel and it turned out she has Chrnoic Pancreatitis which is the less severe of the two. We control it mainly with her diet. And sometimes give her a pepcid with her food. I did notice that when we were away and the dogs were at the boarding facility she came back heavy again and she grinded alot more. But since we have been back and we trimmed her down again the grinding isn't as loud or often.

Hope Boomer is okay and its nothing keep us posted.

Our boston terrier grinds his teeth just for a minute or so before falling asleep during the time he's relaxing and getting comfy. Never really thought of it as being anything to worry about, just something he does.
